George L. Wilson & Co., the tri-state’s number one source for high quality construction equipment and supplies is currently looking for a Purchasing Agent. We have been serving the construction industry in Western PA and West Virginia since 1969.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Negotiate purchase prices and delivery terms on products
- Follow-up to ensure that purchased items are delivered as promised
- Keep necessary inventory on hand for customers
- Have an understanding of what product should be in stock during what season
- Maintain positive working relationships with vendors
- Keep meticulous records on all transactions and submit them to our accounting department monthly for auditing
- Inform vendors of our purchasing requirements and ensure all tasks are fulfilled, from producing new keys to providing maintenance records
- Communicate with warehouse of incoming materials
COMPETENCIES:
- Understanding of purchasing processes and inventory stocking models
- Prior knowledge of construction materials
- Working knowledge of inventory systems and willingness to learn the FACTS system
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and negotiating skills
- Reliable transportation required
- Willingness to join our team and be a team player
- Organized, professional, honest and polite are all a must
- Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
- Good time management skills
This candidate will be working hand in hand on projects with Vendors/Customers. A vast amount of learning will be done in this role and could open up a lot of growth and knowledge for career.
